Balance Your Life

A mature watcher lives a healthy and balanced life as they serve the Lord.  I find myself more interested in the latest YouTube posts from certain watchers that I view and pray for.  Some are more careful to not set dates, but to watch for certain high watch seasons.  Others are more bold in setting dates and lose more credibility when that date passes.  I find that watching is part of the plan while living in these last days serving Jesus; but it’s only part of it.  I love the Lord, I love my wife, and I love my family.  My watcher prowess reflects this, my love for Jesus, and His call on my life.  I do a lot for the Lord; my life is a witness of His faithfulness to me and those whom I reach out to.  At 61, I find myself being able to do more than most guys my age, but at the same time, I haven’t lost my edge to live each day as fully as I can as unto the Lord.  For me, the key is balance. I work, I play, I rest, and I watch.  This is a blessed life, but nothing compared to that which awaits us all in glory, that is, those of us who love Jesus.

“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”                                                                        – 1 Corinthians 2:9 (Isaiah 64:4)

Here the Apostle Paul quotes Isaiah, and he reminds us all that what’s waiting for us on the other side can’t be compared to what we have here; it’s far better.  Some believers have it pretty good, others are struggling, but all of us who love Jesus are longing to be with Him.  We must all be good witnesses for the Lord. We must be focused and intentional in the way we serve Jesus.  We need the Holy Spirit’s power working in and through us as we press on in our walk and mission in this life.  I find that a balanced life is the best life to live.  We need to exercise, eat right, and do our devos daily.  We need to socialize with others and have fellowship with the saints at our local church that we support regularly.  Last I checked, we are to work six days and rest on the seventh.  A great way to balance our lives is to work hard, play nice, have fun in the process, and go to church on Sunday.

Our family has seen a positive shift with God opening doors for jobs, opportunities, and new homes.  This involves relocating where the move is always better, the homes are beautiful, and the blessing of the Lord resides abundantly on our family.  All of this while living on the edge of the Church age.  I ask the Lord why this is and He reminds me of His faithfulness to me, my prayers, and my family who also love and obey Him.  God blesses that kind of obedience.  I ask God about those who are not experiencing this right now, but who have a desire. He reminds me that we’re not home yet, none of us.  All that God does for us on this side of the veil is for His good pleasure; as well, our benefit.  What awaits us in heaven is the real reward; the good that we experience here is a foretaste of what’s to come.  It’s about us being obedient to the Lord and trusting Him for His timely increase.  Remember, no eye has seen, nor ear heard, what God has instore for those who love Him.

This being said, I have a word for those who are longing for an upgrade in their living situation; stand by, you’re about to receive it.  Watchers understand this, but those who love Jesus and are still fixated on the here and now may have a more difficult time grasping this concept.  God desires to bless, and He will bless, in His time.  There’s still a lot of work to be done for the Lord and we are the ones who are to be doing it. We are to be working in the part of the vineyard that the Master has called us to serve in.  If Jesus comes back next week or in ten years, we still have a job to do right up until the moment the trumpet blasts. God will provide for us and open the doors that He has ordained for us in His time. Our job is to be faithful and obedient to the Lord as we press on and endure the various things that we will encounter in this sin-laden world.

People seem to forget about the Bema Seat Judgment; it’s the place in heaven where all believers in Jesus will stand before the Lord and give an account for their life.  This judgment is more about the rewards given to us (or not given) for our faithfulness to the Father. It’s nothing to be feared, but rather anticipated.  This judgment is as close to us as the Rapture or our death.  As a result, we need to stay ready and keep watch by living a life that’s balanced and in tune with God’s Word and His standard for our life.  God’s blessings on this side of the veil is part of that ride, but what’s to come is what really matters; along with those souls that we bring with us into heaven.  I encourage you to plan long and be a good witness, as you work and anticipate Christ’ return.

I try not to make my blogs all preachy and such, but it’s a fitted word for the saints who are trying to live a balanced life in a world that’s seeming falling apart.  Our role is not to save it, but those in it, as best we can.  I find myself getting up earlier in order to just work out a bit, do my devos, and pray.  If I can do this, then I’ll be in a better place to take on what’s coming that day.  I believe that we are critically close to the Lord’s return.  Each day is a closer step to God’s Kingdom, and all those who are in it.  I want to make sure that my life is balanced and relevant, and that I am found worthy (Christ makes us worthy) to escape all that is going to hit this planet and to stand before the Son of God. (Luke 21:34-36)   Until that day, let’s keep serving the Lord and being His hand extended to a needy world who needs Him.

Maranatha!
