Is This the Last Hoorah?!

I am reminded of the old Batman television series from the mid 1960’s. It was full of colorful characters and some awesome choregraphed fight scenes with the added verbiage words projected on the screen with every punch or kick; biff, oof, punch, pow, smash, bam, slam, and the like.  Adam West and Burt Ward were the actors who portrayed the dynamic crime fighting duo.  It think that the show was more for the parents than it was the kids, especially the dads; but what did I know, I was a kid.  At the end of every cliffhanger episode, the announcer would cite some crafty words defining the perilous predicament that our heroes were in. It was often accompanied with the phrase, ‘Is this the last hoorah?!’  Well, that’s where I feel we are at right about now, the last hoorah, minus the capes, masks, and tights.

Brother Joshua resurfaced with a prophetic word supporting his original prophetic word with no apology. If you have not watched the CentwinzTV podcast where he shared his heart, I would encourage you to consider viewing it. A lot of believers feel this  man is a false prophet, but I see a brother in Christ who is doing his best to proclaim what he believes is a word from the Lord for any and all who will listen. He says we’re in a delay that is soon to end; we’ll see. I believe God raises up individuals who are willing to put themselves out there to warn the body of Christ of the promised inevitable. I don’t see this brother as false, but rather, obedient to the Lord.  I respect that and try to do my best to be just as. I am confident that the Lord will get here when He gets here, hopefully sooner than not, and I am watching intently as we cross over into a new month.  As I see what is happening in the middle east and the affect it’s having on our world, I am very aware that we are living in the last of the last days; perhaps even the last moments.  Is this the last hoorah?!

I ask myself this question more often as the days go by.  I keep my watcher prowess on a simmer when I am not around fellow watchers, but I still share my long term plans and goals. I am currently considering a change in my career, something different that aligns with what I feel God calling me toward.  More on that in future blogs.  For now, I want to encourage you brothers (and sisters) in the Lord to stay vigilant, keep your lamps full of oil, and be watching as you work, live, and serve the Lord where He has planted you.  We’re here, but we want to be there; but we’re still here.  This is our dilemma, and it’s been shared by millions of other brothers and sisters in Christ in their lifetimes over the centuries.  We must live our lives to the fullest while longing for home.

If this is the last hoorah, let’s make it a good one.  I have lived a good life, I’ve done a lot of things, mostly good things.  I have loved, served, and cared about those people and things entrusted to me.  While I feel that I have a lot of tread on the tires, so to speak, I also want to keep my eyes on the prize. I encourage you to do the same.  I have taken a greater interest in the ministry of my church, the care of my pastor, and the mission that God has placed on his heart.  I love the people there, my brothers and sisters in the Lord.  They are a blessing and it’s a joy to worship the Lord with them each week.  Soon we will all be with the Lord in heaven, worshipping our King in glory.  For now, we do our best to serve the Lord in this world; for now.  I share this with you because you also need to be committed to your local church fellowship.  This is the way of things.

Until the last hoorah, we must do our best to embrace the hoorahs that God gives to us, no matter how mundane they may feel.  It’s a joy to serve the Lord.  The world is changing as the shadow of the tribulation is being cast over the land.  We can see it, yet we continue to plan long and work hard to be both light and salt while we’re still here.  It’s not over until it is, so for now, let’s make the most of what the good Lord has given to us, both with our time, our resources, and our hoorahs.  Doing good for others, it doesn’t save you, but it blesses them.

I close this blog with a word from our brother Paul, the Apostle Paul,

“For we know that if our earthly house (physical body), this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation (dwelling) which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this  tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee (earnest, down payment). So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”                                                                         – 2 Corinthians 5:1-8

See you soon,

Maranatha!
