That’s the Signpost Up Ahead

I am reminded of many an episode of The Twilight Zone from the late 50’s and early 60’s.  I may not seem old enough to relate to that genre, but alas, I was raised by older sisters.  Rod Serling was the mastermind behind that epic television show. It went 5 seasons and I have every episode in my antiquated DVD collection.  The catch phrase at the introduction of every episode was. ‘That’s the signpost up ahead, your next stop, the Twilight Zone.’  The music, the actors, the story lines with the plot twists are all classic, timeless, and a bit educational.

I begin this blog with this introduction because a lot of watchers out there are confusing convergence and alignment events with a high watch day for the Rapture.  Most of what the watcher channels do is examine convergence trends in Stellurium alignments, specific dates, historical accounts, biblical or otherwise, and even certain passages from scripture.  It’s all quite fascinating and a bit science fiction at times, but those who are eager to be caught up from this mess that we’re in tend to lean toward the signs a bit more than others. While I caution all my brothers and sisters in the Lord to not get too hyped up on alignments and date setting so much, as you do, properly express your love for the Lord and your commitment to serving Him well; beginning with your family.

There is a difference between a sign and an event.  A sign tells of a coming event, expectation, or experience.  Signal lights also have this same effect on traffic patterns and such.  A ‘stop’ sign tells us to stop.  A speed limit sign restricts our speed on a given section of road.  A ‘sign ahead’ warns us of a coming expectation.  All of these signs are just that, signs.  When we confuse them with a given event that doesn’t happen, then we set ourselves up for a disappointment.  Such is the dilemma of the high-watch blues phenomenon that many believers experience when they focus too much on an expected event that was actually a sign from the Lord.

I am all for watching, but not at the expense of being depressed, saddened, or experiencing Rapture Fatigue.  I want to challenge and encourage my readers here to be able to discern the difference between a sign and an event.  A sign is just a sign until it becomes an event.  When the event happens, it won’t matter because we will finally be home with Jesus and all those who love Him.  The road to heaven is inundated with many a sign and signpost.  They are everywhere, especially as we near the finish line.

Jesus spoke of this, He warned us, and reminded us what to look for just before His return. “Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great  earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.”                                                                                                – Luke 21:10,11

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”                                      – Luke 21:25,26

Signs are great, they speak of the nearness of the Lord’s return for His Church. I see them every day, reminding me that we are not long for this world.  Some signs are more obvious than others, but they are there just the same because the Lord promised that He would provide them for us just prior to His return.  For the active Christian who is tuned in to the Master’s clarion call, they should be using this time to better their witness of the Father and be an encouragement to all who would listen.

There is a certain watcher, Brother Dana, who does a great job with convergence and alignment signs.  When you watch his videos, you can see that he has put a lot of work into each of them.  While his assessment of given scenarios are deep and insightful, they do speak of the nearness of the Lord for His Church; which is what we are all longing for.  There are many other watchers who do the same.  We need to demonstrate good discernment and a steady resolve as we progress forward in our watcher prowess.  Not everyone can handle what we do or the conversations that accompany it.  Be mindful of what you say to other believers and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in your witness of the Christ.  We must be wise as serpents, and gentle as doves.
