Caught in the Drive Thru!

I was thinking about the concept of a drive thru window at a local restaurant or coffee barista. If a person is hungry, all they have to do is pull up to the menu box, order their food, pull around to the window, pay for it and take the food.  Drive-Thrus are as much a part of our culture as hot dogs and apple pie.  They are designed for speed and convenience.  When I drop off my dry cleaning, I do it through a drive thru.  When I am with my wife and she has a hankering for some fu-fu coffee, it’s going to be through a drive thru.

This being said, the thought occurred to me that when the Rapture happens, it will happen so fast that if a person is in a drive thru at a local restaurant, and they have ordered their food, while they are moving from the speaker/menu box to the window, and the Rapture happens at that moment, they won’t get their food.  The instant and immediate impact that the Rapture will have on our society will be felt at once.  The cook who is making the food inside the restaurant will either disappear or the person next to them will.  This will be enough for the cook to stop and investigate.  The same goes for the person collecting the money at the window and distributing the food; if they disappear or the person next to them does, they will stop to investigate.  Their inquiry as to where these key employees went will quickly spread to the lobby where missing customers are not and they will move outside and everywhere else and see panic, calamity, and chaos.  All this will ensue globally; thus, no food for you who are caught in a drive thru at the Rapture.

Jesus said it this way, “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.”                                                                – Luke 17:26-29

  • The phrase ‘until the day; and ‘on the day’ infer relative normalcy in society until the moment of the Rapture.  This passage is not referring to the Second Coming of Christ because the world then will be in chaos; nothing will be ‘business as usual’ during those horrific days of the seven-year tribulation.

One moment, things will be ‘normal’ or whatever normal can be on this side of the Rapture; then the next moment, things will change instantly.  Millions of people across the globe, including all young children, toddlers, infants, and even the unborn, will suddenly and without a trace, disappear.

People who use drive thrus are hungry, or they are with people who are hungry; particularly kids.  However, our hunger for food must be replaced for a hunger for Jesus and a longing for His return for us.  I am not saying that drive thrus are bad; rather, that if you’re in one when the Rapture occurs and you’re left behind, you are not going to get your food.  However, if you have made Jesus the Lord of your life and invited Him to save you and redeem you from your sin, as only He can do; then you are saved and you will be the cause of the gridlock in the drive thru lane at the moment of the Rapture; mainly because you will not be there.

Jesus is coming soon, if you’re ready, stay that way and help others to be ready too.  If you’re not saved, get saved, Jesus is the only way. (John 3:15-17;1 John 1:9; Romans 3:23;6:23)  More and more people are looking around and seeing the gloomy chaos and unpredictable and unsustainable forecast on the horizon.  They can see that something ominous is approaching as the coming tribulation continues to cast its shadow upon the earth.

We who have Jesus are not afraid because we know that Christ is coming for us before the tribulation occurs.  In this pre-tribulation era, it’s only logical that we look for a pre-tribulation Rapture.  Keep looking up as you worship, serve, and obey the Lord.  He is coming for His bride real soon.
