We hear a lot of testimonies of people having dreams about the Rapture and heaven and such. It would seem that in this world of dismal results and gloomy forecasts, our dreams reveal our desires as they relate to the kingdom of heaven and the Christ who is coming for us. I too am a realist and can clearly see that our future is not sustainable. While this might make it hard for those with young children, the remedy for this concern by young parents has never changed:
Solomon said it this way, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and (even) when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
Paul reminds us, “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” – Ephesians 6:4
We don’t know what the future holds specifically, but we do know who holds the future. It is in this same spirit of faith and confidence in God’s Word that we live and lead our lives in a way that is consistent with the mandates of the Lord. I am confident that the more I live on this rock, the more I desire heaven. While I do my best to enjoy this life and family, cooperating with what is expected of me, I still long for, like Abraham, ‘a kingdom whose builder and maker is God.’ (Hebrews 11:10)
Last night I had a dream that was as vivid as it was real to me. I was standing in the middle of a dirt intersection in a shaded area, but where about a, eight of a mile in all four directions down the dirt roads, I could see barn doors in the sunlight. One barn door just closed, two others were already closed, and one just opened. In my mind I surmised that I should head down the path toward the barn with the open door. As I approached the barn and into the sunlight, it disappeared and a grassy hill appeared before me. I began to walk up it, as I did I thought, this is the Rapture. When I got to the top, I was met with a large body of clear water, whose soft waves washed upon the shore line. I was compelled to enter into the water, as I did, it parted for me, providing a dry, warm path that I followed into its depths. Once I was in over my head, the water collapsed around me and I was enveloped in the warm water, but still breathing. As I looked in front of me I saw Jesus, with His arms opened wide. I began to run toward Him shouting, ‘Adoni! Adoni!’ (That means ‘Master’ in Hebrew). We embraced and I began to weep. As I did I could feel all of the dark stuff of this world leaving me, for good. It was as if I was experiencing a warm, peaceful presence as I cried. Then I awoke.
The dream speaks for itself. Our steps are ordered of the Lord and we walk by faith through this shadowy life toward the doors that God opens for us. As we do, we will eventually find ourselves on the business end of the Rapture and standing before God’s throne, a sea of glass, where we will enter in and experience the joy of our Lord, His forgiving presence, and eternal reward. This is what I long for, this is the world that is a dream away.
I want to encourage you man of God (and the ladies also), to be mindful of the roads that you take in this life and be sensitive to the doors that are both opened and closed for you. If you are a righteous man, and you are if you are in Christ, than God has ordered your steps and He will provide the way for you. As you walk through the right doors, and keep on the path of righteousness, eventually you will find yourself on the business end of the Rapture and in the very presence of the Lord, our Adoni, our Master. Stay the course, we’re almost home.
